Rumali Roti is a thin flat bread, originating from Punjab. It is made of either whole wheat or maida or both. This bread is extremely thin and folded like handkerchief. They are popular breads served in Indian restaurants.

  • Serves: 8-10 rotis.

Ingredients:

  • Maida – 2 cups
  • Salt to taste
  • Warm milk – 1 cup
  • Oil – 1.5tsp
  1. In a bowl add maida, salt and oil mix them well.
  2. Add warm milk little by little and knead it to soft dough.
  3. Add some oil and knead once and close them with moist cloth.
  4. Rest it for 20 mins.

To make the Roti:

  1. Take a small ball dough and flatten it well.
  2. Dust them with maida flour Roll them thin.
  3. Try to pull the edges well using rolling pin.
  4. Take a kadai and heat it for a min.
  5. Now reverse the kadai upside down and heat it Sprinkle some water to the kadai.
  6. Roll the thin roti slowly on the kadai.
  7. Press gently with a towel when bubble starts to appear.
  8. Cook both the sides until brown spots appear.
  9. Fold it to a triangle shape and serve them with curry of your choice.

Note: You can replace half with maida and atta also. Always roll the roti really thin.
