Chow chow is also called as chayote. It is similar like coconut thogayal. It is a good combination when mixed with rice smeared with Gingelly oil. Trust me, one of my favorite and yummy thogayal.

Ingredients:

  • Chow Chow – 300gms
  • Dry red chillies: 8
  • Urad dhall – 2 tbsp
  • Chana dhall – 2 tbsp
  • Tamarind – small piece
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil
  • To temper: Mustard seeds – 1 tsp Urad dhall- 1 tsp
  1. In a pan add oil. Then add urad dhall, chana dhall, red chillies, tamarind and roast them until golden.
  2. Add the chopped chow chow and mix well.
  3. Close and cook for until the veggie is soft.
  4. Keep stirring in between.
  5. Once done put them in blender and add salt and hing.
  6. Grind them to coarse paste. Do not add water when you grind.
  7. Add oil in tadka pan.
  8. Add mustard & urad dhall .
  9. Add them to thogaiyal and mix well.
  10. Serve this thogaiyal with hot rice and smear some gingely oil.
