Ingredients:
- Rice Flour – 1.5 cups
- Urad dal flour – 1 tbsp
- Hing
- Red chilli powder – 1 tbsp
- Salt
- Butter – 1/2 tbsp
- Water to knead
- Chana dal – 2 tbsp
- Soak chana dal in water for 30mins.
- In a bowl add rice flour, urad dal flour, hing, red chilli powder and salt.
- Add butter and soaked chana dal.
- Add water little by little and knead to soft dough.
- Make equal sized balls from the dough and set aside.
- Take ziploc cover and grease with oil.
- Flatten the ball with a flat cup gently. Alternatively press with finger also.
- Prick the thattai with a fork or toothpick.
- Now heat enough oil for deep frying.
- Drop the thattais one by one and fry them golden on both sides.
- Transfer them to plate once done.
- Store in airtight container.
- Note:
- You can add curry leaves when knead the dough.
- Also grind green chillies and add instead of red chilli powder.
- You can add either white or black sesame seeds
- When frying the thattai the oil should be really hot.
