Upma has never been favorite when i grew up.Whenever amma makes i used come with lots of reasons. Rava upma has always been easy and delicious breakfast. It can be made in minutes. Especially when upma is loaded with veggies it makes it more wholesome too. Here is the simple and easy breakfast that can be made.

  • Serves: 5 persons.

Ingredients:

  • Rava/Sooji – 2 cups
  • Mixed veggies – 1/2 cup
  • Oil – 3 tbsp
  • Ghee – 2 tsp + 2 tsp
  • Mustard – 2 tsp
  • Onion – 1 cup
  • Cashews few
  • Ginger – 1 tsp
  • Chana and urad da – 1 tspl
  • Dry red chillies – 4
  • Curry leaves few
  • Water – 1/4 cup + 4 cups
  • Salt as required
  1. Ina pan add ghee and roast the rava for few mins. Do not make it brown.
  2. Remove from flame and transfer to plate. Set aside.
  3. In the same pan add oil. Once oil is hot add mustard seeds and allow to splutter.
  4. Now add Urad and chana dal. Add Dry red chillies, curry leaves and ginger.
  5. Add chopped onions and cook until onions are soft. Also add few cashews.
  6. Add mixed veggies of your choice and add 1/4 cup of water.
  7. Allow the veggies to cook.
  8. Add water and salt. Allow them to boil.
  9. Once bubble starts to appear add the roasted rava/sooji.
  10. Mix them well to avoid forming lumps.
  11. Close and cook for 6 mins on medium flame.
  12. Once upma is cooked add ghee and serve hot.
