Potato Bonda | Urulaikizhangu bonda | Recipes with Potato | Aloo Bonda | is a popular snack that can we seen all Indian funtions for evening snack or along with tiffen. This is made with potato dipped in besan rice flour. It ios so delicious when served with coconut chutney. This is also famous in Mumbai as batata or stuffed inside vada pav.

Ingredients:

  • Oil- 1 tbsp + depp frying
  • Mustard- 1 tsp
  • Cumin- 1 tsp
  • Curry leaves- few
  • Green chillies- 2
  • Ginger- 1 tsp
  • Cashew nuts – few (Optional)
  • Onion- 1 cup
  • Potato – 4 (oiled and mashed)
  • Turmeric- pinch
  • Salt as required
  • Corainder few.
  • Besan/kadalai mavu- 1 cup
  • Rice flour- 1/2 cup
  • Salt- 1 tsp
  • Red chilli powder- 1tsp
  • Hing pinch
  • Water
  1. In pan add oil, mustard seeds, cumin, curry leaves, green chillies and Ginger. Fry them for a min. Adding cashew nuts are optional.
  2. Add onions and cook until they are soft.
  3. Add mashed potato and mix them well.
  4. Add turmeric and salt. mix them well and turn off. Set aside.
  5. In a bowl add besan, rice flour, salt, red chilli powder, hing and water. Form a thick batter. Check and avoid lumps.
  6. Start dipping the potato balls desired size in the batter.
  7. Deep fry the potato balls to golden brown on all sides.
  8. Serve hot with chutney.
