Momos are usually very esay to make and delicious to eat too. My family loves momos so much. esp my kid. There are many options or variations for the stuffing. For the outer layer, you can also find readymade frozen momo sheets in stores as well. I made the sheets with maida. You can also make with wheat flour too if you need healthy version.   • Serves: 15 momos

Let’s start with Veggie Momos.

Ingredients:

  • For Outer layering:
  • Maida -2 cups
  • Salt
  • Oil 1 tbsp
  • Water to knead the dough
  1. In a bowl add maida, salt and oil. Mix well.
  2. Add water little by little to form soft dough.
  3. Knead them for 5mins.
  4. Apply oil little bit and rest them for 30mins.
  • For Stuffing:
  • Oil 2 tbsp
  • Garlic and ginger- 2 tsp finely chopped.
  • Green chilli -1
  • Spring onion – 1/2 cup
  • Cabbage shredded – 3 cups
  • Shredded carrot – 1.5 cups
  • Salt
  • Pepper 2 tsp
  • Spring onions 1/2 cup
  1. In a pan add oil. Once hot add ginger and garlic.
  2. Fry them for a min.
  3. Add green chilli and spring onion and saute them.
  4. Add cabbage and carrot and cook them for 5mins.
  5. Add salt and pepper.
  6. Garnish with spring onions.
  7. Allow them to cool.

Lets make momo’s

  1. Now take small ball from the dough and roll them very thin.
  2. Add the veggies.
  3. Start pleating slowly. Seal them properly.
  4. Now place the momo in the idly steamer or any steamer.
  5. Steam for 15mins.
  6. Remove and serve hot with momo chutney.

Let’s Make Momo chutney:

Ingredients:

  • Tomato -3
  • Red chillies -7
  • Garlic 3
  • Ginger 1 tsp
  • Soy sauce 1 tsp
  • Vinegar 1 tsp
  • Salt 1 tsp
  • Sugar 1 tsp
  • water 3 cups
  1. In a vessel add water. Add tomatoes and red chillies.
  2. Let them boil for 7mins
  3. Once tomatoes are blanched completely remove them.
  4. Peel the skin of tomatoes.
  5. In a blender add tomatoes and red chillies.
  6. Add garlic, ginger, salt, sugar, soy sauce and vinegar
  7. Blend to smooth paste.
  8. Transfer to bowl and serve with momo’s
