Badam halwa | Badam halwa with almond flour | Indian sweets | Indian mithai | Diwali sweets | One famous and rich sweet prepared during Indian festivals. They are usually prepared by soaking almonds and grinding them to paste. I tried making this with store bought almond flour. The taste was equal and could not find much difference.

  • Cuisine: Indian
  • Course: Dessert/Sweets
  • Prep Time: 10mins
  • Cook time: 45mins
  • Serves: 4 Persons.

Ingredients:

  • Milk- 1 cup
  • Almond flour- 2 cups
  • Saffron few strings
  • Sugar- 2 cups
  • Ghee- 1/2 cup
  • Almond flakes – few to garnish.
  1. In a pan add milk. Let milk boil sometime.
  2. Once milk is warm add the almond flour. Mix them well to avoid lumps.
  3. Once mixed well add saffron strings. Saffron strings brings natural yellow colour.
  4. Once the almond flour raw smell subsides add sugar. Keep stirring until sugar melts. Once sugar melts the halwa will turn liquid state.
  5. Add ghee little by little in between stirring. This helps the halwa to avoid sticking from pan.
  6. Keep cooking on medium low flame. Also keep stirring. It takes minimum 30mins to thicken.
  7. Once the bubbles start reducing and halwa does not stick with the pan it is ready. Turn off the flame.
  8. Once cool down the halwa gets thicker.
  9. Serve hot.
